A question we get pretty frequently, and one you might be asking currently; when will someone reply to my email?
Or, “why is it taking so long to get a reply?”
In short, we are just not able to do booking / replies every day.
We feel very fortunate and grateful for the interest in our shop and artists, but we don’t have the availability to reply to emails (appointment requests) every day or as they come in — we’d be on our phones constantly. We are never on our phones / computer while tattooing or sleeping, so there goes 18hrs - 20hrs a day already. We are also regular people with lives and responsibilities outside of tattooing.
We try our best to respond to emails as soon as we are able to (likely during business hours), but we generally set time aside to do booking / replies in bulk. There is also some waiting on our end for replies so we can get you the soonest date available. However, it is our goal to reply to emails within 4 weeks, but life can be unpredictable and sometimes we get behind.
The listed business hours are general parameters and not guaranteed. Our exact hours vary according to each artist's appointment schedules (which can change day-by-day) and holidays.
Please note, emails are generally responded to in the order they are received, oldest to newest. Emailing repeatedly will likely put your original email at the back of the queue by accident as it will change the send date in our inbox.
You do not need to call / text / email and ask if we got your message. If you experienced some kind of error with the request form, please just try sending it again. We have not had any issues with emails being sent to us through the form, and receiving multiple “Did you get my email?” messages just clogs up our inboxes.
There is always a chance your project is something that neither artist feels comfortable taking on, possibly due to the style you’re looking for, subject matter, or requested placement. If that’s the case, we will reply and let you know so you’re not left hanging – we may even refer you to another shop or tattoo artist that we think might be a better fit for you!
The artists at Cal Tattoo always reserve the right to deny or refuse service.
We often get asked, “Why don’t you hire an assistant or receptionist to handle emails?” We understand this line of thinking, but it is just not feasible for our needs. Every tattoo artist works at a different pace and in a different way, so it would be difficult to communicate this to another person / non-tattoo artist well enough that they would be able to properly schedule things for us.
It is always our goal to reply to every email, no matter how long it’s been, but we know waiting can be frustrating. It is with absolute sincerity that we thank our wonderful clients and soon-to-be clients for their continued patience and understanding!
