Frequently Asked
We get a lot of the same questions day-to-day… or maybe we’re mind-readers. Either way, we hope we can save you a little time by answering some of these repeated questions here.

-
No. We DO NOT do piercings of any kind, whatsoever.
We get this question on a daily basis and we understand that our Facebook page is listed as a “Tattoo & Piercing Shop” but that is only because Facebook does not have a “Tattoo Shop” only option. There is nothing we can do to fix that at this time.
-
We do not do in-person consultations. We do all consulting and scheduling online through the Request Appointment email form.
We do not consult or schedule over phone / text.
-
Generally, no.
Since Cal Tattoo changed over to appointment only, it doesn’t leave much time (if any) to accommodate walk-in clientele.
If there is a last-minute cancellation that we want to fill, it will be posted to our Facebook page with instructions / details, but it will not be first-come, first-served.
-
Most likely, no.
However, we may consider doing a finger or hand tattoo if you are a long established client of ours. Wedding band tattoos will still likely be declined.
-
Gmail is free and easy to join!
The form requires a sign-in to Gmail so you can send photos with the appointment request, so it is important.
We have an Alternate Request Form, but it is not our preferred form of contact since you cannot add photos until we reply to you.Messaging us somewhere else (instagram, facebook, etc) that we don’t normally check just means we probably won’t see your message.
-
Our goal is to to reply to emails within 3 - 5 weeks.

-
No. Tattoo shops are not kid-friendly spaces for many reasons, so anyone with you must be 18+ only.
-
We ask that clients bring ONLY ONE guest with them. This guest must also be 18+ years of age, no children.
-
The price of a tattoo is based on many factors — which artist is doing your tattoo? How large and/or complicated is the design? Is there color? How well is the client sitting? Etc.
When you book with us, we will give you a loose estimate — not a set price — that number can change based on many variables.
-
As Calen says, your tattoo will take as long as it takes. We can give you an estimate but our first priority is giving you a high-quality tattoo, which means taking our time and not cutting corners.
-
Please do not leave a voicemail — we are not able to accommodate returning calls at this time.
However, you can text the shop phone number with quick questions! That means no scheduling or consulting. Response time is generally within 48 business hours.
We DO NOT schedule or consult via text / phone.
-
According to the manufacturers, both our black and color ink is 100% vegan.
-
We do not do Friday the 13th specials or flash of any kind.
If you are hoping to get a tattoo on Friday the 13th, it will have to be scheduled ahead of time (likely a month or more in advance) as we are by appointment only. This applies to all other holidays and other “special” dates.
-
We are not looking for receptionists, artists, or apprentices.
Keep in Mind
We are generally very busy day-to-day with clientele and their tattoo projects, but we will respond to your message during business hours as soon as one of our artists are able to. This may be within the hour or within 3 - 4 weeks.
The listed business hours are general parameters and not guaranteed. Our exact hours vary according to each artists appointment schedules and holidays.
There is a chance your project is something that neither artist feels comfortable taking on, possibly due to the style you’re looking for, subject matter, or requested placement, and may refer you to another shop or tattoo artist.
The artists at Cal Tattoo always reserve the right to refuse service.
